Description:
Research activities in the Republic of Slovenia are almost entirely financed from public resources. In addition to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology as a responsible Ministry the implementation of National Research and Development Programme (applicative and development research programme) also involves other Ministries in accordance with their activities and strategic orientations. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food (MAFF) participates in research in the field of agriculture, forestry and fisheries. Research activities in the field of forestry are part of Slovenian National Forest Programme (adopted in 2007) with two main objectives: “Well-organised, professionally competent research and development activity” and “Created programme of research and development needs, including programmes for the transfer of findings from pedagogical practice”. The MAFF is currently co-financing 21 research projects related to forestry with an amount of approximately 900.000 € per year.
