Description:
SAFRI is a non-profit research organisation working under Ministry of Forest and Water Affairs, General Directorate of Forestry. It is working regional level and responsible for the Southwest part of Turkey where is in the Mediterranean region.
SAFRI was founded in order to solve the forestry problems experienced by application units of the Ministry and working for this purpose for 52 years. It is conducting mainly applied but rarely basic research and currently it manages about 40 research projects covering almost all the disciplines of forestry, with 26 researchers and 16 auxiliary staffs.
SAFRI is working in close collaboration with related research organisations and the universities, mainly forestry faculties at national level and sometimes with research programmes (e.g. EU, FP7 framework and ERA-Net) at international level.
