FORESTERRA (Enhancing Forest Research in the Mediterranean through improved coordination and integration) was launched on the 9th and 10th of February in Madrid.

The kickoff was opened by Carmen Vela, the Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation of Spain’s Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO), among other important figures.

FORESTERRA’s next meeting took place in Tunis (Tunisia), in the Golden Tulip El Mechtel Hotel on 13th June.  The event introduced FORESTERRA to a large cross-section of the Mediterranean forest research community. Participants included eminent forest researchers like the Australian expert Jerry Vanclay of Southern Cross University, or the American scholar Keith Gilles from the College of Natural Resources, University of California, Berkeley.

In the afternoon of June 13th FORESTERRA’s Management Committee met.  Advances made in the last few months by the project partners were presented, and upcoming activities were planned.

You can find more information about these meetings in the “meetings” section of the project’s website, www.foresterra.eu.
